Kovacs

Clodhoppa (AKA Kovacs) found dance music under a manky tarpaulin on a railway embankment in the early 90's.

Having a love of all things bass (Being a bass player helped) and the DIY attitude that drove the free party scene he soon got involved.

A stint of DJing dub, funk, ska and leftfield for free parties all led to "Progressive", a night that ran in various venues across the north for 6 years. As a room 2 resident and founder member he worked as a counterpoint to the sleazy progressive house of room one with either downbeat or breaks sets.

As certain tunes grew and took shape, it was clear another avenue was needed. Kovacs was born, making breaks with big bass and usually an acid line or two. Add some influences from jungle, funk, hip hop and house and you get the Kovacs sound, big warm bass, laid back ambient twists and stripped down drums.

Kovacs did start out life as 'ebb', but with the success of an electronica artist using the name throughout Europe, a new name was needed.

Clodhoppa still DJs dirty, deep breaks and downbeat sets both around the country (The latest highlight being warm up for house God Rui De Silva in London) as well as hosting the midnightminustwo broadcast on Brap FM and regular appearances for the Pointbreakz crew.

Clodhoppa also runs new leftfield label midnightminustwo, which is dealing out beats, breaks and depth.
